I have been ordered by the Family Court of Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania to take a divorce education class. Should I take the Home Study Class or the Online Class?
You can either class. Both are Kids First Classes. Both will satisfy the court order to take a parent divorce education class required by the Lackawanna County Family Court.
Do I have to take the home study AND the online class?
No. You are only required to take one class. Again, you can take either class.
Can I take both classes?
You may, but you would have to register and pay for both. Again, you are only REQUIRED to take one class.
I have been court ordered by a different family court; can I take either of these Kids First classes to satisfy a court order from a different county?
Maybe. Kids First cannot guarantee that either of these classes will be accepted by another court. You should seek prior approval from the court that ordered you to take the class. You can download a class description.
Will I get a certificate of completion when I complete the class?
Yes. For parents taking the home study Kids First will send you a certificate via email or regular mail. A hard copy will also be sent to the family court. For parents taking the online class, a certificate of completion will be emailed to you by the company that is hosting our online class: OnlineParentingPrograms.com. Kids First will also receive a copy. Kids First will send a copy of your certificate to the Family Court of Lackawanna County.
I am receiving services from a child or social service agency that has suggested or required me to take the online class Single Parent Empowerment. How will that work?
You or the agency will make payment. Parents will have to register for the class. Upon completion of the online class, you will receive a certificate of completion from OnlineParentingPrograms.com. It will be your responsibility to provide your certificate of completion to the case worker of the agency.
Are these classes available in Spanish?
The online class Single Parent Empowerment is available in Spanish. The home study class is not.
